Join SCI
DEAR FELLOW HUNTER:
We started the Lansing Area
Chapter in the year 2000 and we now have grown to 487 members. If you
share an avid commitment to hunting and conservation, and support protecting
our rights as hunters, we invite you to join us.
BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
When you join SCI, you can
become a better-informed hunter and conservationist. Your dues help SCI protect
your hunting rights in Lansing, Washington DC, and around the world.
HUNTING
When our members get together,
you can find someone who has hunted almost anywhere in Michigan, the United
States, or around the world. Members willingly share their experiences, good
and bad, so you can successfully plan your future hunt. SCI has an annual
hunters' convention where members can visit well over 1000 exhibits by
outfitters, hunting equipment suppliers and taxidermists. While at the
convention, members can also book hunts which will take them anywhere in the
world.
CONSERVATION
Our
conservation efforts include helping to finance Michigan DNR research projects
related to moose, bear, southern deer, and wolf. We routinely send educators to the
American Wilderness Leadership School at the SCI ranch near Jackson Hole,
Wyoming
where they learn the importance of hunting as a conservation tool.
HUNTING RIGHTS PROTECTION
SCI’s logo, “First for hunters” means just that. We have a staff of wildlife and legal
experts in Washington DC that work with Congress full time. They assure
legislation effecting wildlife is based on science and not emotions. Likewise,
our right to hunt is also closely guarded.SCI works the
same way for us on a local level with our Michigan Government, all the other state
governments, and with the governments of countries worldwide.
PUBLICATIONS
As a Chapter
member, you will receive the monthly Lansing Area Newsletter, which is full of local
news. From the National Organization, you will receive six beautiful issues of
the award winning Safari Magazine and the monthly Safari Times. The
Safari magazine covers hunting and conservation on every continent and the
Safari Times keeps you updated on the current issues affecting your hunting.
